Wicked Wednesday

When I drive down Hollywood Blvd and many other stress of Los Angeles everyday and see plenty of billboard ads for all sorts of products. They can range from bad D-List films, designers watches to alcoholic products etc.

Many of the fashion billboards can be a little risky, the models showing too much skin, to greased up and in uncalled for poses. However, there has never been any billboard that has that has offended me more then every signal Skyy Vodka ad out there.

Being stuck in traffic and having to a huge billboard in front of you of a woman's legs in between a Skyy Vodka bottle, is not what I want to see on my way to work or home. This ad does not tempt me to go the store and buy of bottle of Skyy Vodka, so I too can feel like an objectified sex vixen. What I do instead is go home and rant to my roommates about them and tell all of my friends how uncomfortable they make me. This might be the wrong thing to do, the advertisers behind the ad campaign might want us to do just that, spread the word. But what else can I do, I have to look at them every day and as much as I try to ignore them I can't.

Now, I understand that Skyy Vodka is simply trying to attract the younger male audience, but there are other ways of doing it. As time goes by and new Skyy Vodka ads replace the old, the innuendos become more obscene.

I hate these ads with a passion and feel that the creators of them need to read "Can't Buy Me Love" by Jean Kilbourne. I also hope that women were not a part of the creation of the ad campaign, if there were they should be ashamed of themselves.

My Sick Day Kit

All last night and today I have been sick in bed; all because of a bad pumpkin spice latte.

There are a few things that I need when I am sick to make everything a little bit more bearable.

1. Good Pj's

Something along these JC/DC South Park pj's that Katy Perry is sporting would be perfect. The champagne might not be the best thing for you, but if it makes you happy.

2. My Mamí Soup

Nothing makes me feel better then have my mom's soup when I am feeling off. Of course, now that I do not live with her I have to make my own. It is not the same, but close.

3. Pomegranate

Full of antioxidant and vitamins; which is extremely good for you. Plus, the pomegranate arils are fun to eat or throw at people if you are bored.

4. ICE CREAM

5. A Good Book and Movie

In my case for this sick day was Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone and any good movie would do, usually it is Pride and Prejudices

Eye Candy of the Week

Nicholas Hoult

Since, MTV just released the trailer for the American version of Skins, I felt it was necessary to honor the first Skins bad boy.  Looking at him now you would never think that he was the little boy that just wanted to sing in 'About a Boy'.

The Perfect Aroma

Flowerbomb by Vicktor & Rolf
Cost: $100
Available Here

Every girl has their signature scent and this has to be one of my favorites.  Typically, I tend to stay away from the sweet and flowery perfumes, but when i got a sample of Flowerbomb by Vicktor & Rolf I fell in love.

The sweet blends of  tea, sambac jasmine, orchid and many other flowers to make the perfect balance.

The only negative about this perfume is that it is a little pricey, but worth every penny.

Tuesday Shoesday!

Tanya:
Marc by Marc Jacobs Buckle Leather Boots
Cost: $495
Available Here

When it gets cold all I want to do is walk around in boots all day and nice huge comfy coat. My pick for the week are this Marc by Marc Jacobs Buckle Leather Boots. Usually, I stay away from burgundy color things because it is the color of choice for my mom when she decorates. However, when Marc Jacobs uses these colors I can't help, but to love it and this burgundy leather and suede duo are heaven. The gold buckle detail add to the military look; perfect for conquering the rain.

My Fair Anne

Unfortunately, it has been awhile since the beautiful Anne Hataway has graced the covers of any magazine. Well, she is back with a bang! She will be on the cover of the November Issue of Vogue and can I just say how beautiful she looks.

It is no secret to those who know me that one of my favorite fashion icons is Miss Audrey Hepburn. There is just something about the style and class of the 50's and 60's stars that make my heart swoon. In this fashion spread Anne is channeling some of the best, from Audrey Hepburn and Elizabeth Taylor. Dressed is some of the most flattering and luxuries dress by Isaac Mizrahi, Carolina Herrera and Vera Wang.

Ever since her first film I have been in love with Anne Hathaway and also saw her as a classic beauty. She has come a long way from the awkward teenage princess.

Tanya:
Saddlery Buckle Bag
Cost: $58.00
Available at Urban Outfitters

Looking at this bags reminds me of the time I have spent on my Grandma's ranch when I was little. It also reminds me of all the episodes of 'Hey Dude' on Nickelodeon. From the rustic brown color, to the buckle detailing.  To give this bag justice you must always wear boots and be near a horse every time you use it.

Color Me Red

I have a tiny obsession with the UK's X Factor, I just cannot get enough of it. From the talent that is found through the show and the fashion with unique style from every contestant. Okay, so it is not such a tiny obsession, but if are not watching it already, you should start.

Recently, the 26 years-old X Factor judge and Girls Aloud star Cheryl Cole debut her newly colored red hair.

Normally, I would not post about this sort of things, unless it absolutely mind-blowing, but what is incredible about Cheryl's change is that she dyed it herself! She used a L'Oreal home-dye kit, Casting Cream Gloss in shade #550 Mahogany to be exact. Of course Cheryl wear a burlap bag and look stunning and this new hair-do is no different, I love the change and the fact she did it herself.

See you don't have to spend hundreds of dollars to look amazing!

'Never Let Me Go' Dazzling Fashion

When both Keira Knightley and Carey Mulligan hit the red carpet you can be sure to see them in them in outstanding fashion. The two fashionistas are once again sharing the big screen in the new film Never Let Me Go. They have been busying promoting the film all over the world and her a few of their latest fashion choice as they promote the film in London.

Arsenic and Red Lace

Michelle Williams looks lovely in a red lace Erdem dress at the premiere of her new film, Blue Valentine, on October 15 at Vue West End in London.

She paired her classic cut dress with daring leopard and zebra print Charlotte Olympia heels. Michelle's new platinum blonde crop haircut is a result of her role as Marilyn Monroe in My Week With Marilyn

Wicked Wednesday

Tanya:

This is a clever way to advertise a product, but I cannot appreciate the creativity behind it because of the  product it is promoting. If this was promoting a healthy way to lose weight, not liposuction. There are many dangers with liposuction and working out, eating right and a little hard work can help you get the same results.

Tuesday Shoesday!

Tanya:

Keith Haring by Nicholas Kirkwood Collection
Cost: TBA

I love when art world and the fashion world meet; both are amazing form of expression and fashion to me is art. My pick for the week hasn't even been released in stores yet, in the beginning of last month Nicholas Kirkwood gave a sneak peek to the world of his new collection.  The collection is pop art to the max using some of Keith Haring's most memorable pieces through out the shoes.  On of my favorites from the four that were previewed has to be the most simplest of all of them. I love this basic pump with the thick red heel that makes it stand out from other ordinary heels. I can't wait till February 2011when I can see the all 12 shoes that will make up the Keith Haring by Nicholas Kirkwood Collection!

A few months ago I made an amazing purchase of this lovely wallet. My heart started beating faster holding it in my hands while I contemplated if I should buy it or not. Alexander McQueen SS11: One with Nature

We waited to post about  Alexander McQueen Spring/Summer 2011 collection, in order to get a clear grasp of the collection and soak it in for what it is. It goes without saying that Sarah Burton has a difficult task in front of her, having to fill the shoes of the late Alexander McQueen. However, at this year fashion week Burton was able to raise to the occasion and captured the true essences of McQueen; while still adding her own style to the house. The collection was inspiration was nature, with garments made up of feathers, butterflies and sheaths of wheat.

Fashion Rewind

Last week it was reported that NBC and Bryan Fuller, creator of ‘Pushing Daises’, are working on a remake of the classic TV show ‘The Munsters.’

With Halloween just around the corner and this great news, it is only fitting for Bang Bang Fashion to pick Lily and Marilyn Munster for Fashion Rewind. These iconic characters are polar opposites of one another stylistically; both memorable, simple and their own.

Lily Munster is not your typical vampire or housewife; the best way to describe her style is a mix of Greek Goddess and Goth Princess. Always keeping it simple with a hint of sultry in her elegant ankle length dress accented by bold black lace ribbon. She makes subtle statements with the unique shape of her sleeves giving her the appearance of having batwings and her bat necklace. When you hear Lily Munster's name the first thing that comes to mind is her trademark black pin-straight hair with thick white streaks. Whatever you do, DO NOT get her confused with Morticia Addams it will get ugly, you have been warned.

When you think of Marilyn Munster you think of the black sheep of the family. She is not like the rest of her relatives and it shows. She refuses to follow in the steps of her aunt's rather getting her fashion tips from Edith Head's book.  Her style is clean cut classic 60's flattering dresses and simple accessories. Not a strand of hair on her head is ever out of place; her make-up is never over done. Marilyn is an early Betty Draper with more personality; she is truly one of television's classics beauties.
